Simon Palmer, Photographer & Artist

Since the age of 16 I’ve had a passion for taking pictures. I started my career as a concert photographer, which taught me a lot about connecting the subject to the environment. A musician gets lost in their music, and the challenge was always to capture that connection. This led me into other image making passions. Through strange quirks of fate, I ended up working with horses, receiving an award in the US for camera work in equine TV productions and working with Monty Roberts the American Horse Whisperer. Then, finally, I ended up in conservation photography which is very close to my heart.

Showing the connection between the subject and the environment is the most important thing to me. I make images that I love, and in doing so, try to make people think about what they are seeing. I don’t like being pigeon-holed, and with music, horses, conservation, predators, and now a new passion of mine…the west country towns and villages, I think I have achieved that.

Dad’s Place have shown extraordinary care with my images when giving them a physical body. Their desire to do the best for the image is amazing. They match my passion for the image in their work, and I’m proud to be on their site with a selection of my images for you to enjoy.
